The Center for Women’s Medicine, a fertility clinic located in Houston, TX, offers the full range of fertility treatment and infertility diagnostic services. In addition, we believe in treatment of the “whole woman” combining wellness programs with holistic approaches including proven acupuncture techniques and other alternative therapies. Lisanne’s Wellness center, a part of the Center for Women’s Medicine, offers the latest in nutritional therapies, exercise, massage, and other alternative treatments. Our IVF success rates are among the highest in the country, which is a testament to the effectiveness of our combined approaches to overcoming infertility.
Dr. Michael Allon, President of the Center for Women’s Medicine, is Board Certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. He is a native of Houston and completed his medical and Obstetrics and Gynecology training at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a two-year fertility specialist Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the prestigious Wayne State University School of Medicine in Michigan. He is also recognized as one of he countries foremost experts on polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
The Center for Women’s Medicine has a male fertility specialist on staff. This is extremely important given that almost half of infertile couples will have a male infertility component. Our center is the only one in Houston where one facility provides comprehensive, cost effective assessment, and treatment, of both the male and female.
Our in vitro fertilization (IVF) program consistently produces success rates far exceeding the national averages. IVF success is heavily influenced by the quality of the laboratory and its staff. Our laboratory is directed by Dmitri Dozortsev, PhD, MD whose unique expertise encompasses more than 16 years in the field of human embryology and genetics. His PGD technique has been included by ESHRE in the “Best PGD Practice Guidelines” and he has more than 40 publications and several patents.
In addition to our embryology laboratory, we feature an on-site, state-of-the-art andrology laboratory. We conduct expert semen analysis often identifying subtle sperm defects missed by commercial laboratories. We prepare sperm for insemination (IUI) at our facility in Houston and also offer freezing services.
Services such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection, assisted hatching, and PGD are also offered by the Center for Women’s Medicine Houston, TX location. Dr. Dozortsev personally performs these procedures insuring the best IVF fertilization success rates possible. Additionally, we have a very successful embryo cryopreservation program that allows couples to save excess embryos for use in future IVF cycles.
We offer preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for those at risk for certain genetic diseases, or for gender selection. PGD is virtually 100% effective in identifying the sex of the embryo prior to transfer to the uterus. Ours is the only laboratory in the region that can offer “same day” PGD services.
Many women cannot use their own eggs to achieve pregnancy. This may be due to age, premature ovarian failure, previous chemotherapy or radiation treatments for cancer, or unknown causes. We have a very active donor egg program that helps these women achieve their dreams of having children. Surrogacy is offered to those women who cannot carry their child to term and delivery due to health concerns, or severe uterine damage.
Some conditions such as uterine fibroids, polyps, endometriosis, blocked tubes (depends upon the location and extent), and others respond to surgical intervention. Dr. Allon is a highly skilled microsurgeon performing most procedures using the laparoscope. Laparoscopic surgery reduces costs, increases patient comfort, reduces recovery time, and has less potential for side effects.
The majority of patients will not require IVF and micromanipulation procedures. A high percentage will achieve pregnancy using intrauterine insemination (IUI) or medical/surgical intervention. Dr. Allon has extensive IUI experience including difficult to treat groups, such as PCOS patients.
